Civil Service exam grading

There was a claim that the Civil Service hiring process is flawed because HR employees are not grading exams appropriately. For Civil Service classifications requiring an exam, these are graded by score and are not open to interpretation. Other Civil Service positions require a credentials assessment. In this process, the recruiter determines whether a candidate qualifies for a position based on a review of the classification’s minimum qualifications and the candidate’s resume. If a hiring unit has questions about the evaluation process, they should contact their assigned recruiter. There may be opportunities for the hiring manager to review candidates with the recruiter after the scoring of the exam and/or credentials assessment.
