New Vice Provost for International Affairs Neal R. McCrillis

Dear Colleagues:

Several months ago, I announced the appointment of Dr. Neal R. McCrillis as UIC’s new Vice Provost for International Affairs. Last week, we welcomed Dr. McCrillis to our campus when he officially began his appointment on March 1. He comes to us from Columbus State University where he was the Mildred Miller Fort Foundation Eminent Scholar Chair of International Education, Executive Director of the Center for International Education, and Associate Professor of History at Columbus State University. At UIC, in addition to being a vice provost, Dr. McCrillis also holds an appointment as an associate professor in the Department of History.

Neal McCrillis, Vice Provost for International Affairs

Dr. McCrillis received his BA from Vanderbilt University, and his MA and PhD from UIC. He is a scholar of British and 20-century European history, and he had a very successful tenure at Columbus State internationalizing the campus and creating award winning programs.

The creation of the Office of the Vice Provost for International Affairs required reorganization of the units related to international issues at UIC. The Office of the Vice Provost for International Affairs will now include the following units: Office of International Services, Office of International Affairs, US/Asia Executive Development Program, the Tutorium in Intensive English, and the Study Abroad Office. Dr. McCrillis will also be part of the Shorelight Education/UIC Global project team. I want to thank the directors and staff of those units for their assistance and cooperation with this reorganization.

Please join me in welcoming Dr. Neal McCrillis to UIC.

Sincerely,

Susan Poser
Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
