On Monday, June 8, 2020, Attorney, Analyst, and Author Bakari T. Sellers spoke with Professor Teri McMurtry-Chubb and the UIC Law community about race and injustice in America in the wake of the murder of George Floyd. Mr. Sellers made history in 2006 when, at just 22 years old, he defeated a 26-year incumbent state representative to become both the youngest member of the South Carolina state legislature and the youngest African-American elected official in the nation. In addition to acting as a political commentator and analyst for CNN, he is the author of My Vanishing Country, a personal memoir that illuminates the lives of America’s forgotten black working-class men and women.
A Conversation with Dean Darby Dickerson: Antonio Romanucci (‘85)

On June 15, 2020, Antonio Romanucci (’85), Founding Partner of Romanucci & Blandin LLC and Co-counsel of the George Floyd Estate Legal Team, joined Dean Dickerson for a conversation about the murder of George Floyd and the need to pursue lasting change on behalf of Mr. Floyd and all victims of social injustice. Mr. Romanucci has built his career representing victims of wrongful death and violence, including victims of the Pulse nightclub shooting, victims of the Route 91/Las Vegas hotel shooting, and victims in multiple matters of police misconduct.
