Committee to Reimagine General Education at UIC
Charge and Membership:
The Committee to Reimagine General Education at UIC was launched in spring 2025 and will revisit, reimagine, and update UIC’s General Education Program and establish an innovative, student-centered program that communicates, reinforces, and furthers UIC’s mission while better reflecting and preparing our students to address the realities and challenges of the 21st century.
Committee to Reimagine General Education at UIC Charge:
The current UIC General Education Program was last updated in 2007. We are now presented with a unique opportunity to revisit, reimagine, and update UIC’s General Education Program to better reflect the realities of and prepare our students to address the challenges of the 21st century while simultaneously establishing an innovative, student-centered program that communicates, reinforces, and furthers our mission “to provide the broadest access to the highest levels of educational, research, and clinical excellence.”
This committee has been charged with reviewing, analyzing, and discussing a proposed new structure for UIC’s General Education Program and has been asked to complete its work to consult with, consider feedback from, and find consensus endorsement from campus. In carrying out its charge the committee will engage with campus and college stakeholders, including faculty, students, and key standing committees, via public forums, meetings, and other settings.
